However, applying for the First Home Owner Grant can be a complicated process.

The NSW First Home Owner Grant scheme helps eligible first home owners to purchase a new home or build their new home by offering a $10,000* grant.
Building of new home – the total value of the contract is up to $750,000.
Purchase of new home - up to $600,000.
(New Home – is a home that has not been previously occupied or sold as Place of residence and includes a home that has been substantially renovated & a home built to replace demolished premises).
Vacant Land – Stamp Duty exemptions and concessions for the purpose of building a home:

The Office of State Revenue has very specific criteria that you need to meet to ensure you are eligible for the First Home Owner Grant. At time of writing, these criteria are as follows:

If you make your application through your financial institution the funds will be available for the first progress payment for a building contract, or at settlement for a completed home. If you apply directly to the OSR the grant may not be available until after completion and your name is registered on the certificate of title.
